Thread starter robbieajr Start date May 28, I am having some grinding, scraping noise coming from my front drivers side wheel when I turn my steering wheel to the right. I believe this to be a wheel bearing going bad, I have already this replaced once before about 3 years ago. My question is, do you think this is a wheel bearing problem, or could it be the shield?
The biggest thing a notice is that the noise only occurs when I turn the wheel to the right and there is some noticeable vibrating at higher speeds. I have already ordered all new brake pads, rotors and a wheel hub assembly, but before I do the work is there anything I could check to verify it is in fact the wheel bearing that is the problem?
Thank you for your time! You could try jacking up the front of the vehicle and rotating the wheels to see if you can replicate the noise. Also see if there is any slop in the wheel when moving back and forth. When my hub assemblies went bad both at the same time I noticed a grinding noise around mph.
Did you notice the same or is it just when turning right? Also, make sure to fill out your vehicle profile so the members know what you drive and can better help diagnose your issue. I'd definitely consider this a bad bearing. The brake dust shield is an original equipment manufacturer OEM part that helps protect brake system components and other suspension parts from the excessive collection of brake dust.
As brake dust builds-up, it can become embedded between brake pads and the brake rotor, corrode the brake caliper and possibly lead to premature wear and tear — possibly even braking system failure. Unless you have a disc brake system, which cleans itself, the brake dust shield is important to protect the entire system. Still, many people wonder if brake dust shields are necessary.
Quick question: what causes excessive brake pad wear? But did you know that a leading source of friction comes from debris stuck between the brake pad and the brake rotor? When the brake dust shield is removed, the collection of brake dust on these critical components is accelerated. As a result, friction is increased when brake pads are applied to the rotor, which can increase the wear of pads and rotors.
Keeping the brake dust shield installed can extend the life of pads, rotors, and even brake calipers. Removing brake dust from your wheels is a very simple process.
However, removing road grime and dirt is not as simple. People living in cold-weather climates have to deal with an additional culprit to premature brake wear and tear — the collection of road salt.
As the ice begins to melt, the salt starts sticking to brake system parts. When the water evaporates, the salt acts like sandpaper — literally grinding the brake pad and rotor every time the brakes are applied. The brake dust shield helps to block road grime, salt, and other contaminants from collecting on the brake system.
In a perfect world, car owners would replace their brakes as recommended by their manufacturers — usually every 30, miles. However, these recommendations are set by normal use, which includes using the vehicle with all OEM parts installed. By removing the brake dust shield, consumers are accelerating the wear and tear of brake pads and rotors.
Although these components can display warning signs or symptoms, like grinding when applied or squeaking, they will continue to wear and can eventually fail.
While it might be tempting to remove the brake dust shield to avoid the extra step during brake pad replacement jobs, the risks simply outweigh any perceived benefits. It is always best to reinstall all OEM components when completing routine service and maintenance, which includes the brake dust shield on any car, truck, and SUV.

Brake noises can be annoying, but can also alert us of an upcoming danger. It's best to play it safe and have brake noises checked by a trusted mechanic. I will cover three of the most common brake noises I encounter on a daily basis and try to shed some light on the repair.
Some of the repair techniques I share with you here are unorthodox and you will never find them in a service manual or Technical Service Bulletin. If you decide to try them please be cautious and safe. Hearing a grinding noise when you apply your brakes is really like hitting a rumble strip on the edge of the highway; if you hear this, you need to wake up and stop driving. A grinding noise on braking is usually caused by a lack of brake pad material; the pads and rotors are now metal to metal, with no braking material left.
Brake pads are like bars of soap. Eventually they get used up, and you have to replace them and spend a little money. And when you get the bill for your brake job, you will need CPR cardio-pulmonary rescuscitation.
If your brakes are grinding, stop driving and call a tow truck. If you replace your pads on time you can often keep your rotors. This brake issue is one that will annoy the hell out of the driver, and suck the life out of the technician. It took me months to figure out what caused this thumping noise in the rear of a vehicle when braking.
Many cars have drum brakes in back, where a shoe stops the car by pressing on the inside of a metal drum. Brake drums, like rotors, get resurfaced once in a while. The cutting bit on the brake lathe removes the old braking surface and leaves a nice new mating surface.
Help, scraping/grinding noise coming from front drivers side!
When the brake shoes ride on the new surface, they will follow the groove like the needle of your record player follows a track. If the groove is interrupted, the shoes snap back, hitting the backing plate. You can guide yourself with it if you want to compare two tipsters that you like.

Despina, Tourism Tribe expert from Institute of Excellence shares her three easy, free tips and actions you can do right now to take your tourism business next level. Video sharing continues to grow as one of the most powerful online marketing tools.
The best thing about having a tourism business in 2017 is that video and travel experiences go hand in hand. Eliminating the disease to please others is a metaphor for life as much as it is for your social media networks.
Trying to be on all networks and pleasing everyone we ended up attracting the wrong crowd and please no one. I encourage you to take the time to research what I call your IDV, Ideal Digital Visitor. Your ideal visitor is the customer you want to attract most to your business. Go beyond age bracket and geographic location and think deeper about who that ONE person is.
What keeps them up at night. How can you help them. Thinking about who you want to attract in this way will not only help you define where you should focus your social media attention, it will help you produce more compelling content that speaks to them.
And once you can make your visitors to your website or social profiles feels they are understood and that they matter, you are achieving digital greatness. We are all more than just a tourism business, traversing the visitor economy, we are destination educators first.
Having a destination first mentality is something I learned very early on in my international sales mission journey. No one will care about my tiny little eclectic regional experience until I describe the benefits of travelling to Australia first, then my state, then my city and only after I have shared the destination story I proceed to share my business story. Never assume visitors know where you are and use tools like Facebook, Instagram and your smartphone video to create smart collaborations with your community.
Givers gain, the more you promote others, the more you add value to your audience, the more you create leadership and influence in your community, the more you will be rewarded. There are also plenty of characters returning to Westeros, and things are going to get interesting when some of these meet up again after so much has changed. In addition to all the big moments that fans know are coming, there are plenty of smaller moments to speculate about.
And of course, the trailer already showed Beric and his fiery steel in the snow, presumably fighting North of the Wall. Her direwolf, Nymeria, was driven away several seasons ago after she attacked Joffrey (Jack Gleeson), and Arya knew that if the wolf stayed with them, the Lannisters would kill her. By the end of season 6, Sansa has become a killer herself, murdering her abuser, Ramsey Bolton (Iwan Rheon), by leaving him to be eaten by his vicious hounds.
A likely target is the mad Robin Arryn (Lino Facioli), whom Sansa already hates. This could be the only way to get the armies of Westeros to stop fighting each other and start fighting together. Fans have been hoping for Cleganebowl since season 1, and originally thought it could happen by way of a trial by combat.Find an instructor near you and get personalized golf help.
